Where The Wild Things Are
This was a young, nursing coyote who, for whatever reason, had no mate and no pack. She came to us for help to feed both herself and for food to take back to her den for her pups. Though she allowed me next to her... I DID NOT EVER try to touch her or "tame" her in any way. She was wild and I wanted her to stay that way and I remained cautious when near her. So kids, do not try this at home! *L*
She came here for about two weeks. She had a very odd gait and you could see that she had a back leg that had been injured at one time. Then...she never came again. I prefer to imagine that it's because her pups weaned and that she...and they...are among the packs that I hear out hunting in the early morning and late night hours.
It was a breathtaking experience to be allowed so close to something so beautiful and wild.
